Chrysanthemum Cluster

These clustered mums, both sticking together while clamoring to bloom further, give me joy. This drawing alludes to my explosion series of paper cuts. Similar to the cycle of a volcanic explosion, the initial dispersal of energy has taken place, these blooms seem to hover like the billowing smoke and ash released from a fault in the ground. Here they are existing in a moment of repose while taking to the air, heavy heads and all.
